End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is a security system in communication that ensures than only the parties communicating can read the messages being shared across the used platform. End –to-end ensures that nobody who is unauthorized can access the keys required to decrypt the messages.
With WhatsApp encryption service your messages are protected from, hackers ,telecom companies, the government and even WhatsApp Inc. Hence only you and your friend can access the messages that that are sent through WhatsApp.
The End-to-end encryption functions only when you and the people you message are using the latest version of WhatsApp. When using WhatsApp, every user has his/her own security codes which allow for verification that all calls and messages sent are protected by end-to-end verifying that your WhatsApp end-to-end encryption is functioning is optional.
First, Open the WhatsApp application and choose contact/group option from the chat page. Now you will see a 3 dotted menu option, tap on the option.
On the Contact/Group you will see Encryption option. If the Encryption menu is locked, then your connections are secured by end to end security and if the encryption option is unlocked then you connection is not safe. Then verify the end-to-end security tap on the Encryption option. That appears.
On the next page, you will get a 60 digit number or a QR code. The QR code and the number is unique between you and individual contacts and every other WhatsApp user has a different QR code and number. Below the screen you will see a SCAN MODE which you use to scan using your friends phone if they are near or if they are far, you can send the code to him through the “Verify Security code” option .
After receiving the message, you friend can compare the 60 digit number you sent and the one that he/she has and if the numbers match that means that your communication is encrypted and secure.
