STCCC provides a comprehensive reporting of a
Compliance Gap between a tested EDI document and EDI Implementation
Guidelines. Compliance Checking consists of Envelope Compliance,
Structural Compliance, and Detailed Segment Compliance.
Envelope Compliance is not a transaction set
or IG specific. It verifies that the tested document is a valid EDI
transaction. Envelope Compliance error often means that the tested file is
not an EDI Document. STCCC reports envelope violation and no further
checking can be performed until the violation is corrected.
Structural Compliance is transaction set and
IG specific. It verifies that all mandatory segments are included into the
tested document and that all the document segments are valid and placed in
the required order. Structural Compliance checking is performed
automatically following successful Envelope Compliance checking. STCCC
reports structural violation and specifies exact location and contents of
the erroneous segment. Since EDI Structural Compliance depends on a
relative to each other position of the document segments, STCCC reports
only the first structural violation. By correcting this first violation
the user may change a status of other suspected violations. No further
checking is performed until Structural Compliance is established.
Segments Contents Compliance is also
transaction set and IG specific. It verifies for each segment that all
mandatory elements are included and that all the segment elements are
valid and placed in the required order. It also validates elements code
values and applicable segment Syntax Notes. Since segment contents
violations are not correlated between the segments STCCC includes all the
violations into one report.
